09/06/2016 - Undergraduate success
It’s been a good year for undergraduate students in the Ashley group. Following research presentations earlier this week, Josh Sapsford has been awarded ‘1st Prize for MSci Research Project Presentation at the Catalysis Symposium’, while Jenny Zhang received an award for ‘Best Overall BSc Research Project Poster’, on top of one for ‘Best BSc Research Project Poster in the Inorganic Section’. Congratulations to both!
27/08/2015 - Nature podcast
Dan was recently interviewed for the weekly Nature podcast on the subject of gloveboxes, and their use by synthetic chemists. The full podcast can be found here.
15/06/2015 - Heidelberg Forum of Molecular Catalysis
As part of winning the 2015 BASF catalysis award, Andy has given a talk at the Heidelberg Forum of Molecular Catalysis, on transition metal-free hydrogenation of C=O compounds. During the visit, Andy was particularly excited to be shown the first reactor used to produce synthetic ammonia.
11/05/2015 - BASF Catalysis Award 2015
Andy has been awarded the 2015 BASF catalysis award, which will be presented at the Heidelberg Forum of Molecular Catalysis on June 12th. The prize, awarded to an outstanding young researcher every two years, has previously been won by well-known names including Tobias Ritter(2011) and Melanie Sanford (2009).
10/02/2015 - AstraZeneca CASE Award
The Ashley group has recently secured CASE award funding from AstraZeneca to support a 3-year PhD project studying ‘frustrated Lewis pair’-catalysed hydrogenation chemistry, to start in October 2015.
